Suppose it were made some odd number like 13 min RT = 1 game hour? If it were like that, the day/night cycle would slowly switch around so people can play both in the day and at night after it cycles through.

I suppose if a reset of the server resets the day/night cycle to noon or midnight or whatever.. the day/night change would surely vary day to day or at least week to week. We have fairly regular resets but they are far from regular as far as timing...
So I suppose that will handle it well enough.
Woo hoo.

Would this have any affect on frequency of chest resets? More than half the time they're already open when I come upon them and if they'll take longer to reset I despair of ever getting any loot.

Please consider that there are some pure spellcasters around and that rest is so vital to them

Sorry for derailing a little bit here: If a chest is open, and as you say they can be so often unfortunately, they are actually bugged and won't produce any loot till the server resets. Currently I see the Umber Hulk area being plagued with such, but that might be because it is often traveled? Good question though. Is the resetting of the chests timed on RL minutes or the hours used IG? No need to give up specific amount of time which I honestly have no interest in.

Within 4 hours of a reset it's not uncommon for every chest in an entire area to be broken with no hope of loot, and it only gets worse as it bleeds over to other areas. It's a serious issue with the current loot system, IMHO, but this isn't the topic for discussing it.

I think he was referring to casters that kill with spells, not casters that buff and kill with melee/range.

Longer time between rests make casters more akin to pnp have to choose when to cast etc wisely.

I think he was referring to casters that kill with spells, not casters that buff and kill with melee/range. Yes yes, that was my intention, anyhow I already see around some items that gives you more spell slots, a couple of extra magic missiles might help, another way is to party with melee chars (increasing RP as a side effect which is always good IMHO) but not everyone wants to party with a stinky necromancer.... Yet another tactic is to fire up your arsenal and then rely on polymorph, it's what Im doing at this time especially when Im going solo, and we still have the old system and Im a lvl 7. Anyhow I just wanted to focus the attention on the pure spell casters because, IMHO, they will (or may) suffer more than other classes. My two cents.

i like the first option.
Now does this effect the other spell durations that are by minute and by round?

15 min rest timer is too easy for epic blaster mages, but too hard for low or middle lvl blasters.

15 minute/hour and 15 minute rest timer is great imo. Also someone mentioned "safe rooms" where resting can be done at will, i am all for this. I say make the INN rooms useable to rest at all times and make us have to pay to use the rooms like buy keys from the inkeepers to unlock the doors, and the keys vanish after being used

Only problems is the crashes in town.
